Hook your Canon printer up to your Dell laptop to create physical documents from spreadsheets, presentations and other digital documents you use in your business. Despite the differences in manufacturer, laptops and printers are designed to work with one another right out of the box. Once the printer is connected to the laptop, the Windows operating system will guide you through the process of installing the printer drivers that are necessary for communication between the two devices. Following the installation process will help you avoid spending money for a professional to hook up your business printer.
2.Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the connection panel of the Canon printer.
3.Plug the other end of the cable into the USB port on the side of your computer. Turn on the printer.
4.Click the Windows 'Start' button and select 'Control Panel.' Click the 'Hardware and Sound' option and click 'Devices and Printers.' Click 'Add a Printer' and select 'Local Printer.' Select the printer port for your connection.
5.Click the 'Canon' printer option in the drivers window that appears and select the specific model. Click 'Next.'
7.Choose whether or not to share the printer with other devices on your network and click 'Next.'
8.Choose whether to set the printer as the default printer and click 'Finish.'
